Sam and Meredith - Key West
My heart is so full as I look at these photos. Last weekend I photographed the wedding of my two dear friends, Meredith and Sam. Meredith was my high school english teacher, a woman who taught lessons through heartfelt stories, fierce dialogue and wit. I learned more about life in her class than I ever thought possible. After I graduated, we stayed in touch. She was always there if I needed advice, someone to talk to, or just wanted to meet up for lunch. We became close friends and I fell in love with her sweet family. When she asked me to photograph her wedding in Key West, I think I may have screamed with excitement. It was a dream come true.. with a twist! Meredith and Sam had planned a surprise ceremony the night before the planned wedding day. The plan was to invite everyone on a sunset cruise Friday night, and during the evening Meredith would sneak away, change into her wedding dress and the ceremony would begin. Only a few people knew besides me - the wedding planner, the officiant and the musician. As Meredith walked around the corner through a crowd of their closest friends and family, everyone gasped. Tears ran down Sam's cheek. I watched as people realized what was happening - curious expressions turned into excited smiles as they watched the ceremony unfold. After the kiss, the celebrations began! The reception was held on Saturday as planned at the Old Town Manor. The courtyard was decorated with paper lanterns, string lights and baby's breath flowers. It rained during dinner but that did not stop everyone from dancing into the night. It was truly a perfect weekend spent with two people I care so much about. Thank you Sam and Meredith for letting me be a part of your day.
